Category:Pavement engineering1. Field of the Invention The present invention relates to a light guiding member for guiding light from a light source to an area. More specifically, the present invention relates to a light guiding member that is suitable for making the illuminance uniform in an area where light from a light source is to be guided and that efficiently guides light from the light source. 2. Description of Related Art In an area where light is to be guided, the illuminance of the light to be guided varies depending on the position or the direction where the light is to be guided. This makes it difficult to form a uniform image on a position or the direction where the light is to be guided. Light guiding members have been proposed to guide light from a light source to an area in a uniform manner. For example, Japanese Patent Application Publication No. H4-82454 (JP-A-H4-82454) proposes a light guiding member made of a single molded body. The light guiding member has a first portion that guides light from a light source to an area, and a second portion. A linear light guide (hereinafter referred to as a “linear light guide”) is provided in the second portion. A coupling portion that couples a cover member to the first portion is provided on the second portion. The linear light guide is provided on the first portion. However, the light guiding member of JP-A-H4-82454 has the linear light guide on the first portion and thus, the first portion is larger than the second portion. As a result, the light guiding member has a larger size. U.S. Pat. No. 7,611,971B1 proposes a light guiding member that guides light from a light source to an area in a uniform manner. The light guiding member includes a main body that guides light from a light source to an area and that has a plurality of light guiding elements. Each of the light guiding elements guides light in a different direction. The light guiding member has a coupling portion that couples the main body to a member to be illuminated. The light guiding elements are arranged in a matrix. However, the light guiding member of U.S. Pat. No. 7,611,971B1 has a complex structure that includes the coupling portion. This makes it difficult to reduce the size of the light guiding member. In addition, the light guiding member requires a larger number of
